Cheap Southern Recipes

Fast-Fix Fried Apples – This recipe for Fast-Fix Fried Apples is a triple threat: it’s cheap, easy, and versatile. You can make these apples for dessert, dinner, or breakfast. All you need to do is cook some apples together with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg for an irresistibly sweet dish.

Easy Watergate Salad – This creamy dessert salad is the perfect thing to take to parties. Plus, it’s so simple to make. All you have to do is combine pineapple, marshmallows, pudding mix, chopped nuts, and whipped topping.

Old School 7 Up Biscuits – Anyone is capable of making these light and fluffy biscuits. You can serve these with your dinner or top them with gravy for breakfast. A smear of butter or jam takes these Southern biscuits over the top.

Real Simple Fried Chicken – Fried chicken is quintessentially Southern, but I bet you didn’t know that it was so affordable to make! The only requirements for awesome fried chicken are pieces of chicken, flour, and simple seasoning.

Momma’s Baked Macaroni and Cheese – It may be tempting to buy a blue box of macaroni and cheese for only a dollar, but you can make a much more wholesome version from scratch for not a lot of money. Elbow macaroni is layered with Cheddar cheese and milk before getting baked until golden brown. Once you taste this macaroni and cheese, you’ll realize that no one does it like Momma.
