If you’re anything like us, you’ve spent the past few weeks glued to Pinterest, saving all of those drool-worthy seasonal recipes using apples and pumpkins. And when you’re trying to cook on a budget, those recipes can appear to be an increasingly distant fantasy. We’re here to tell you that you don’t need to miss out just because you’re trying to save your pennies. Everyone should be allowed to enjoy these fall dessert favorites, and we’ve got the recipes to help you do it!
We’ve got a few money-saving tricks to help you really enjoy the best fall has to offer:
1) Keep an eye out for sales. Stores know just how popular apple and pumpkin recipes are this time of year, and you can bet many of them will be luring shoppers in with fall sales and promotions. Wait until the time is ripe and stock up!
2) If you’re looking to purchase fresh apples from the orchard, go with friends or other family members and split the cost! Most people tend to leave with more apples than they need, so forcing yourself to split the bounty will help reduce costs.
3) Wait until the hype dies down and then check the clearance aisle. Once stores start looking to push out their stock of canned pumpkin and canned apple to make way for Christmas food, they’ll slash prices in order to move around inventory. Take advantage and stock up—canned pumpkin is good for up to two years!
