Cute Clover DIY St. Patrick’s Day Craft

February 28, 2021 by Stefanie Girard

I have had this green Ball jar in my stash for quite some time but didn’t have an idea for what to make with it. Well, being that it’s time to decorate for St. Patrick’s Day, I thought I’d combine it with two of my favorite things—plants from my yard and battery-powered tea lights to make a cute centerpiece.

All you need in addition to the green glass jar is a recycled plastic cup. In this case, I used a Jell-O cup, which just so happened to be green too—it was yummy!

I happened to have clover growing in my back yard. If you don’t, I bet you can go for a walk and find some pretty easily.

I dug up a small patch of the clover with a bit of dirt and popped it into the recycled plastic cup.

Then, I removed the metal disk from the jar lid ring.

When you are ready to enjoy your St. Patrick’s day decoration lit up, turn the light on and replace the cup of clover on the top of the jar.

I further embellished the jar with two pieces of organza ribbon.

Be sure to keep the clover well watered. So far, I have had it about a week, and it is doing great. I do have to turn it regularly as the clover wants to lean toward the sunny window I have it in.

I was thinking this might be a fun way to start my tomato plants?

What other flowers or plants would you put in your illuminated mason jar planters? Let us know below in the comments!

Great Craft Ideas

I’m always changing up my art and color palette. After Valentine’s Day when things are all red and pink around the house and then St. Patrick’s Day when everything is green, I’m ready for some blues. This word “Art” is easy to make using scrap pieces of thin wood, a variety of paint colors, and […]
