Easy Crochet Patterns to Make (and Finish) While Watching the Oscars

February 17, 2015 by AllFreeCrochet

The Oscars are happening this Sunday and I, for one, plan on crocheting through it. I haven’t decided if I’m going to make a crochet hat, crochet headband, or another easy crochet pattern just yet. I just know that I’m going to craft through the Oscars.

OscarsIt’s not that I don’t want to watch the Oscars. That’s not the reason why I’m crocheting through it. I love the Oscars. I’m all about Oscar parties and live-tweeting the whole event. It’s one of my favorite pastimes, actually.

But, crocheting is another one of my favorite hobbies, so that’s why I want to try crafting while repeatedly yelling J.K. Simmons‘ name at my TV screen when they’re about to announce the winner in the Best Supporting Actor category. (If you haven’t yet seen Whiplash, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s so well made and Simmons is fantastic.)

I figure that crafting during the Oscars will be a sort of test for me. I’ve always thought of crafting as more of a marathon rather than a sprint, but, a lot of the time, I take more time than I really need to finish projects. By giving myself a 3(ish) hour timeframe, I’m challenging myself to see if I can finish an easy crochet pattern or two that I’ve started in a single sitting. I’m also challenging myself to see if I can finish a craft by the time the Oscars use the “play off” music for the last time, just because I think it would be entertaining to finish before the music. 🙂

From one skein wonders to just quick and easy crochet patterns, here are a few free crochet patterns that you could definitely start and finish while watching the Oscars this year. I’ll be pulling from this list and would love you to join me!

Crochet Projects to Make During the Oscars

Can you finish these easy crochet projects before the play-off music ends?

1. One Hour Spiral Scarf
2. Beginner’s One Hour Cowl
3. 10-Minute Crocheted Headband
4. 50 Minute Easy Crocheted Scarf

8. One Hour Wine Bottle Cozy – I think I’ll do this one first!

What will you be crafting during the Oscars this year?
