Hi, I’m Marie Dabbs with The Inspiration Vault, and the only thing I love more than crafts and crochet projects is getting a great deal on my supplies. Imagine how excited I was when I saw a huge bin full of Bernat’s Mega Bulky Yarn for only $1 a skein at Dollar Tree! I grabbed 10 skeins thinking that would be plenty to make a blanket, based on the materials used for my Santa Hat Crochet Blanket. Well, it turns out I needed three more skeins and decided to use an accent color to break up all the taupe yarn. I didn’t pay full price for those either, thanks to some awesome 50% and 60% off coupons.
Since the Mega Bulky Yarn is so thick, I had to keep the stitch simple. I tried out several stitches, but at that size, most of them looked bizarre. A simple single crochet stitch looked the best and put the focus back onto the beautiful yarn. This would be a great project for someone who is just learning how to crochet or for someone who wants to make a blanket fast since each skein took less than an hour to finish. Who doesn’t love fast and thrifty?
