How to Make Your Own Icebox Cake:

Icebox cakes are great because they leave you wiggle room to do what you want and add your own ingredients. If you want to make your own variation of an icebox cake, you can take a bare bones approach and work your way from there.

A typical icebox cake starts with some sort of cookie or cake base. Most use Oreos, graham crackers, or other cookies. You can then layer pudding or Cool Whip between these. For best results, make at least three layers. Some icebox cakes don’t use any cookies and simply layer puddings, creams, etc. together. Top with fruit, nuts, or some sort of sauce to make your dessert super decadent.

TIP: When in doubt, keep it simple. If you add too many ingredients, you may muddle your flavors too much. Think about what flavors work well together and model your ingredients off of those.
