Recycled Craft Bracelets: How to Upcycle Magazines

May 20, 2019 by Stefanie Girard Leave a Comment

This project features two of my favorite things-words and jewelry. And it couldn’t be easier to make!

Gather up some old flat bracelets and transparent tinted Duck Tape.

For the first bracelet I used a promo postcard from Angry Girl.

I cut the words down to the size that would fit on the bracelet.

Then I placed the words onto the sticky side of the transparent tinted tape centered on the tape and then onto the bracelet taking care to not have any wrinkles.

All that was left to do was fold over the tape to the back side and trim the ends. Did I say easy? Yes I did. So easy in fact I wanted to make another one and a great source for words and quotes are fashion magazines.

This “MY WAY” reminded me of the Frank Sinatra song that I fell in love with when I heard it performed by the Sex Pistols back in my teen years.

One tip is that the more contrast there is in the background and the type the more the words will pop under the transparent tape. This technique I bet will work with a collage of words as well. I plan on trying this with larger cuffs made with recycled plastic bottles and do a whole quote.

What magazines would you use for this recycled craft?
