Recycled Craft: Turn Your Old Scrabble Board Into Art (Doubles as a Game!)

September 19, 2019 by Stefanie Girard 1 Comment

I am always on the lookout for ways to use my stash of washi tape along with making modern art with recycled elements.

That is just what I came up with by filling in all the squares on a Scrabble board with washi tape.

The process is also a fun kind of zen process like knitting. Simply cutting small squares of washi tape is relaxing.

As you can see I enjoyed a cup of coffee while cutting both the squares for the board and the tiles.

Why the tiles too? Well, I thought this would also be a fun way to make a matching game for little kids.

1. For the really little kids simple allow them to match the tiles to the squares on the board.
2. For a more challenging way to play, divide the tiles equally among the players and see who can match their tiles up first!

Best yet, after the kiddos have grown past a matching game or you are done enjoying your washi tape modern art the tape can be pealed off, and the Scrabble game can be used for its intended purpose.
