24 Ways to Craft with Scraps

February 25, 2015 by Cheap Eats and Thrifty Crafts 2 Comments

One thing you should know about me: I’m big on recycling and upcycling because I hate being wasteful. I always try to avoid it as much as I can, whether it be when I’m crafting, eating, or even jotting down notes. But especially when I’m crafting. I always jump at the chance to make scrap fabric projects and crafts that use up leftover yarn.

I don’t believe it leaving anything to waste. In my opinion, recycling is not an option; it’s a duty. But just because it’s a duty doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! Some of the best craft projects I’ve ever come across have been scrap fabric projects and crafts that reuse old T-shirts (not to mention one skein crochet patterns and other projects that use up extra yarn). Come to think of it, a lot of times I try to use as little material as possible with my primary projects so that I have enough leftover materials to make secondary projects.

Love sewing, quilting, and/or working on easy crochet patterns? The next time you’re crafting and find yourself with ample leftover materials, upcycle them into some of these quick and easy projects!

I make doll clothes with my yarn and material scraps. Last year I made my granddaughter a dress for her ring dance and used the scraps to make her sister a doll dress

Years ago I made curtains for an apartment then used the scraps to make my daughter, who was about 6 months old at the time, a dress. Both turned out beautifully.

Great Craft Ideas

Do you prefer to knit from the top-down or the bottom-up? While knitting from the bottom might be easier for some knitting patterns, if you’re making a top, it’s definitely better to work from the top down. That way, you can sort of try the shirt on as you go to make sure the fit […]
