Wedding Gift Idea: Matching Stencil Pillow Cases for a “Deer” Couple

September 13, 2016 by Stefanie Girard

Sweet dreams for the happy couple with this super cute stenciled doe and buck pillow case set.

Matching Stenciled Pillowcases

I love to decorate with the deer theme whenever I can. I even simply use antlers most of the time. Included in the FolkArt Woodland set of stencils there is a charming set of doe and buck stencils that I thought would look great on a set of pillow cases under my chicken wire heart.

Matching Stenciled Pillowcases

I had a set of pillowcases with tiny gray dots on them that I thought would be perfect to embellish.

In addition to the stencils and the recycled pillow cases I used Plaid Fabric Creations Soft Fabric paint in Hot Pink, A Waverly stencil brush, bit of painter’s tape and some scrap cardboard.

I slid the cardboard in the pillowcases to protect the back side from the paint.

To prevent the stencils from slipping around after placement I taped them in place with a bit of painter’s tape. Be sure to place the stencils with the pillow case openings facing out and the deer pointing in if you like your pillow cases on the bed like that.

I highly recommend this fabric paint. I was a bit skeptical when it said “soft” as I like my pillow cases really soft but this paint really lives up to that claim!

I ironed it after it was dry  per the directions on the bottle and washed it as well and it is soft.

Sweet dreams 🙂
