I have a lot of relatives with birthdays in early January. Rather than be one of those lame-os who gives out “holiday/birthday” gifts, I like to find a way to give them something thoughtful on both special occasions. It can get tough, though. After the holidays, I’m tired, broke, and fresh out of ideas. After all, I just bought my cousin, aunt, and best friend what I thought were the perfect gifts! Then it hit me. I would make these lovely ladies everything they needed in order to have the coziest, most relaxing post-holiday season of their lives. I had no idea there were so many recipes online for homemade soaps, sugar scrubs, and candles. I also topped these items off with some cute knitwear or a toasty homemade hand warmer and voila: the perfect winter gift.
Look below for our list of gift ideas and a bonus list filled with kid-friendly ideas for little ones born in the month of January.
Gift Ideas for Winter
Think of the wonderful evening you can give someone with homemade gifts like these. Your friend, sibling, cousin, or parent can use their exfoliating sugar scrub and then cozy up in a pair of slipper booties to the light of a new candle or lantern. For added warmth on a supremely cold night, they can even slip a hand warmer or two into their booties.
Winter Gifts for Kids
Having a birthday right after Christmas is the worst on little kids. Who can blame them? We’d all be lying if we said we don’t secretly look forward to the birthday love and cheer we receive from family and friends on our special days. Give your littles a cute animal ear hat or a homemade toy this January.
